Week 8 Rankings
Here we are at the final week of the season. There are a few make up games next week, so I'm just going to lump it all into one this week and sand bag for my big Playoff Preview next week. The 8 vs. 9 "Play in" game has already been decided, congrats to Pitch Please and Richard Don't Know for that honor. They'll get a practice game against each other this week. Hoff Constantly has a chance to be the worst #1 seed ever if they can beat Hand Made Love this week in the battle to play PP. Muff N Men finally gave up a run (or 8). An open challenge has been put out there to NDW to show up with 3 guys and 6 girls. Unlike HC, I feel as though our team can at least score a run. Here are your week 8 rankings.
#9. Richard Don't Know (0-5, Last Gm: L 0-5 to HML)(Last Wk: 9, NC)
RDK has locked up the #9 seed and will have a first round date against PP next weekend. I heard there were a few people that signed up and didn't even play a game on this team and that's why they've been scrambling all season. It's too bad for the people that DO show up...
#8. Pitch, Please (1-5, Last Gm: L 1-8 to NDW)(Last Wk: 8, NC)
This season's "Underachievers Award" goes to PP. They should be a tough match up for whoever the #1 seed is regardless. The offense has just been terrible this season and their normally shut down defense has been worse. They did show signs of life this week against NDW, but fell back into old habits in the 4th inning giving up 7 runs.
#7. T'Keela Mockingbirds (2-3-1, Last Gm: T 5-5 vs. HC)(Last Wk: 6, -1)
Ties are never fun. I really wish we could have some sort of quick tie breaker like the NHL has in the regular season. Maybe a dizzy bat relay race or a chug off? Scott should look into this. TM has quietly play well the past couple weeks and the key word is "quiet". HML should be a good test this week for the only team that doesn't get a bye week.
#6. It Ain't Gonna Drink Itself (2-4, Last Gm: W 8-4 vs. MNM)(Last Wk: 7, +1)
2 wins in a row for IAGDI, one more win is a winning streak. Putting up an 8 spot in Superhero is impressive on its own, but against a team who's defense had been the hottest in the league is just awesome. Unfortunately, NDW is next and I'm sure they won't have all their guys out of town again. This will be a true test for a team with an exciting offense and a sporadic defense.
#5. Beast From the East (3-3, Last Gm: Bye)(Last Wk: 5, NC)
The most confident team in the league, coming off a bye week has MNM this week. Bez was quoted (sort of) saying after MNM's loss: "We play them next week and the only reason why they hadn't given up a run is because they hadn't played anyone good. We'll beat them easy."
#4. Hoff Constantly (4-1-1, Last Gm: T 5-5 vs. TM)(Last Wk: 4, NC)
With a win this week against HML, the Hoffs can be the #1 seed and have home swamp advantage until one of their girls vanishes. Ironically, I have to root for them to win so my team can avoid getting screwed by them making NDW forfeit... Son of a bitch.
#3. Muff N Men (3-1-1, Last Gm: L 4-8 to IAGKI)(Last Wk: 2, -1)
The Muffs had such a defensive meltdown this week that I'm pretty sure their Jello shots liquefied. Now that we know MNM are human, BFE is frothing at the mouth to face them. The next 2 games could vault them up to the #1 seed (with help) or drop them to the 5th seed.
#2. Hand Made Love (4-0-1, Last Gm: W 5-0 vs. RDK)(Last Wk: 3, +1)
HML got a gifted win by forfeit this week and looks poised to be the #1 team with a win over HC. Kind of a bummer that these guys don't play NDW this season thanks to some creative scheduling by one of the 13 CSR's on NDW.
#1. No Dead Weight (5-0, Last Gm: W 8-1 vs. PP)(Last Wk: 1, NC)
NDW looked as dominant as usual by smoking PP last week and have a chance to grab the #2 seed if HML beats HC and NDW wins out. This will be the first time since NDW's inception that they have not been the top seed. Maybe next season they can drop some of the dead weight and grab the top spot back.

Beast From the East vs. Muff N Men
BFE has been pretty much average all season as their record indicates and MNM are coming off their first loss and getting blown out. This is a tough one to pick but I think BFE's over confidence dooms them this week. MNM win 3-2.
Pitch, Please vs. Richard Don't Know
PP should roll over RDK fairly easily 7-1. Mac will do his best to stay in the whole game this week.
Hoff Constantly vs. Hand Made Love
Game of the Week. This is basically the battle for the top seed in the playoffs. Both of these teams can win ugly games but I'm going with HC to win it 4-2. You get good karma when you make NDW forfeit.
Late Games
No Dead Weight vs. It Ain't Gonna Drink Itself
Who knows who will show up for NDW this week as half their team has missed half the season. IAGDI has been playing good lately and this should be a good gauge of how good they are. NDW wins 5-3.
Hand Made Love vs. T'keela Mockingbirds
TM haave also been playing well the last couple weeks but I can't see HML losing twice in one week. This will be more competetive than it would've been 5 weeks ago. HML wins 4-2.
Hoff Constantly vs. Lighthouse
Clam jam, dizzy bat, corn hole, kickball, sloshball. They could have a quintathalon with just what they bring to the field every week.
Next Weeks Games
Richard Don't Know vs. T'keela Mockingbirds
I'm pulling for RDK to get a win but it's just not looking good this season. TM rolls 6-2.
No Dead Weight vs. Muff N Men
I guess this will be the game of the week next week based on the slim pickings we have. NDW will put the Muffs defense to a true test and should win 5-1.
