Lighthouse GSPOT Playoff Preview!

Lighthousers!

Playoffs are here. Now is the time to determine who won't be going to Vegas because we all play in the lighthouse league. So congrats to anyone who just so happens to be planning a trip to Vegas for no reason.

Last week was pretty crazy. We had expected wins according to our predictions but what surprised us most is when the Tinderella's out sloshed the Misfits on and off the field. Thankfully for our beloved readers, the Gspot Crew is still intact; what started out as a challenge to the death between the two writers turned into Casey Kasem volunteering to die as Tribute, so you all can thank us for being able to get you LOL'ing at work.

Truer words have never been spoken Hop, although I feel the CK Tribute might have been a little too soon. To correct our statement and protect our karma, R.I.P. Casey Kasem - thank you for taking the bullet (figuratively speaking) for the Gspot crew. The Gspot crew did indeed have a brief 5 hour fallout, but like the Eagles, Police, Van Halen and Outkast, we've reunited to give you our words of wisdom, whether you like it or not. So in honor of the late CK, "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars and enjoy the Gspot's power rankings."

#1. S3XT Panthers - no amount of trash talk and threatening of their well being can move them off the top spot. They've proven all season that they are the team to beat and are the clear favorites for the gold ball.

#2. Tinderellas - they've played the role of the best second place team in the league and are now looking to make a statement. Strong performances on and off the field and will now look to put their first championship on their resume.

#3. Ex Panthers - the only team to stand toe-to-toe with the S3XT Panthers all season, the Ex Panthers have championship experience and have the motivation they need to make a run. They've positioned themselves in the #4 spot in the standings and are a serious threat for anyone in the playoffs.

#4. Swamp Donkeys - they've struggled against the top two teams but have dominated the rest of the competition. They've had a difficult time putting runs across the plate all season, so expect them to put a serious focus on offense in the playoffs. If they can correct their offensive woes, look out.

#5. We've Got The Runs - inconsistency has plagued WGTR's all season. When they're on, they pile on the runs, but when they're off, they've looked terrible. If they can put together a solid three games, they have "Cinderella story" written all over them, however, they have yet to put together three decent games in a row all season long.

#6. Ball Busters - the BB's have had a difficult time in the field all year, and their offense has looked anemic to add to their troubles. They will need to change things around a bit if they want to advance past the first round.

#7. We Only Come From Behind - this was a toss-up between the Misfits and WOCFB, but history has told us experience plays a large factor in the playoffs. This team is chock full of that, but they've looked awful all season. Maybe they're sandbagging the entire league, or maybe Father Time has closed the door on this veteran squad.

#8. Misfits - if this was a power ranking for the team that has had the best time this season, the Misfits would be at the top. When you play this team, you immediately know that they are far more intoxicated that you, and maybe that is a better judge of a great team in the Lighthouse league, however, I don't see them going anywhere outside the first round.

Onto the Predictions:

Swamp Donkeys vs Ball Busters:

These two teams met in the regular season only once, with the Donkeys walking away with a 4-1 victory. The Donkeys sport the second lowest runs allowed all season, letting up a total of 11 runs. On the other side of the diamond, the Ball Busters had the second worst offensive numbers on the season, managing an average of only 2 runs per game. I expect that the numbers won't lie and the Donkeys march on to the second round, 5-1.

Ex Panthers vs We've Got The Runs:

The classic 4 vs. 5 matchup. These two teams went toe-to-toe in Week 6, ending in a far-from-entertaining 1-1 tie. The good news is that this game will certainly not end in a tie, which means we will never have to sit through watching these two play again. Several of the Ex Panthers participated have a gold ball under their belts from last Fall, and it has been some time since We've Got The a Runs have experienced the WAKA playoff atmosphere, which is why I lean towards the Ex Panthers pulling out the victory and moving on. Ex Panthers in a close one, 3-2.

S3XT Panthers vs We Only Come From Behind:

Should we even bother with this one? WOCFB has been this seasons biggest let down. Perhaps they are still on tilt from getting Upset by the Tindie's in the Fall, but one would hope they could get their act together for this seasons playoffs. It seems as though WOCFB are more washed up than Andrea Yates' Children. Maybe they have been milking it all season, but the Gspot thinks they may have lost their cookies. This game should go as expected in the Panthers Favor, although we will see a fierce push from WOCFB. 4-2

Tinderellas vs Misfits:

These teams battled it out in one of the best sloshball games to date last week. With players switching teams during the game, Sparks and other Superheros joining, it was more entertaining than a big sausage pizza video(NSFW). But let's face it, the Misfits are only good at drinking, and the Tinderellas have the deadly combo of Professional Drinking and Above Par kickball skills. We see the Tindies Swiping Right and splurging all over the Misfits this week in an epic beatdown resulting in a 7-1 win.

Best of luck to all this week and we hope to see you all at Rivalries, win or lose. Alcohol is great because you can drink to any occasion, so no excuses for not going.

You stay classy Lighthouse.
