Week 3!

Welcome to week 3! AKA bar games week. AKA it's finally going to be in the 70s week! By now you've realized just how old you are because you're in bed on a Friday night by 9PM. I hope I never feel that old! Things we learned in Week 2: The number 2 team on the rankings is a jinx (0-2) so far. Hand Made Love needs to change their name to Time to Retire. And, I need to retire the 2 beer solo cup. What's this I hear about a team complaining because an opposing pitcher was throwing too hard and bouncy? This isn't tee ball. Rule 7.0.1b states: A pitch can be delivered however the fuck the pitcher wants to deliver it. Since when is Lighthouse sponsored by Kleenex? That's supposed to be NDW's sponsor. Crossover weeks are coming up soon, so you better stock up!

Power Rankings

#6. Hand Made Love
Atrocious start to the season. This has to be the first time HML has been ranked last since I started doing this. But, they earned it after giving up a 10 spot last week to NDW. Especially considering, last Spring, they only gave up 8 runs all regular season. Faley's not walking through that door, guys!

#5. Tinder Rejects
The Larry Lucchino blueprint for loading up your pitching staff with number threes and trying to win with offense generally doesn't work in Superhero league. Especially when you forget to load up on offense. Hopefully their scoring more at the bar than on the field. Don't worry, there are crossover games against Lighthouse.

#4. Balls on your Shin
Way to step up your game and teach Jeannette a lesson for ditching in the off season. Super Twisted Timmy bested gigantic ball sack Batman and Ninja Turtle was chucking like he knew what he was doing. Always good when I call out a team for being terrible and they make me eat my words.

#3. Rum Riot
Maybe it was the lack of Mac, or Brownie's 18 inch kielbasa flopping around the base paths, either way I knew RR would have their one stinker a season at some point (Roll Another anyone?). It is tough the first couple weeks playing in the dark when it's 27 degrees out, running uphill barefoot in the snow. Look for a rebound game tonight.

#2. Jugs & Thugs
I'm not really surprised they're here at two, but I am a little surprised they're here this early in the season. No real signature game yet (that could change tonight!), but can't argue with 2-0. Good depth all around. Still waiting for the season's first (Superhero) temper tantrum!

#1. No Dead Weight
I'm not quite sold on the defense just yet, but the offense has been scoring at will. Papi's no mercy mentality this season seems to be working. Hopefully it works better than it did for the Pats in '07 (I just smacked myself in the face for putting that in here). Dropping 10 on anyone is tough in Superhero, let alone a team that's known for their solid defense.

Tonight's Games

Rum Riot (-3) v. Tinder Rejects
RR's solid defense coming off a shitty loss against a team that hasn't found any offensive rhythm probably means a swift left swipe. 4-1 RR.

Hand Made Love (-1) v. Balls on your Shin
My guy tells me Steve shows up this week, which means Floyd won't have to be terrible at catching. BoyS already got their 1 win for the season so they're probably mailing it in until playoffs anyways. 3-2 HML.

No Dead Weight (-3) v. Jugs & Thugs
NDW seems to flip the switch when certain teams threaten their dominance. I see this being a back and forth game to start with NDW pulling away late. 6-3.
