Lighthouse Semi's/Championship Preview

With the Red Sox only a couple hours away, apologies in advance for the short introduction and write-up. We are busy converting our vehicles into duck boats for the pending riots in Boston. We hope you enjoy the last GSPOT of the season, and thank you all for reading. Onto the predictions!

We Only Come From Behind vs. Prepare Uranus:

Well here it is. Win and you get an opportunity to play for the gold ball, lose and you get to ref the game that you could have been a part of. We're not sure if Prepare Uranus was actually preparing their butts for We Only Come From Behind or if they were stating that the other team should prepare theirs, but regardless, here they are. It was a tale of two seasons for these two teams, as WOCFB marched through the regular season with an impressive record, and PU limped its way into the playoffs. Defense wins championships, and unfortunately for WOCFB, they will be playing without their starting pitcher. Time will tell if they will be able to rally around the loss or break to the added pressure of filling that crucial position. PU has questions of its own after narrowly avoiding an early exit and upsetting the Donkeys late. The PU's are riding high on emotion and are looking to carry that momentum into one final night. The two teams met twice in the regular season with WOCFB winning both, however, that record means little in the playoffs. PU will need to be on the top of their game if they're to survive this one, and the GSPOT team believes their luck will run out. We have WOCFB taking this matchup with some early runs and miscues in the field for PU. WOCFB 6-4.

Smoosh Smoosh Panthers vs. We Only Come From Behind:

This ones for all the marbles. Gold Ball... bragging rights... resume builder... It doesn't get much bigger than this. Both teams ran through the competition in the regular season and seemed locked in on the prize from day one. SSP put up historic numbers in the regular season, and looked sharp in their playoff game last week against the surprising KD's. The SSP's have averaged only one run let up a week and have very rarely beat themselves in the field. On the other side of the diamond, WOCFB was just as solid, posting an impressive record for the season. These two teams met only once in the regular season, and it was one that WOCFB would like to forget, as they got run off the field in a 12-2 loss. We expect a much different performance from WOCFB in this championship game, and anticipate this matchup to showcase the top talent in the Lighthouse League. SSP has been in this position before in the Spring season and fell on their faces, however, lessons are learned from mistakes, which is why we see SSP taking home the Gold Ball. SSP 5-2.

Thanks again to all who made this season possible, from the field set-up crew, the refs, the WAKA volunteers (you all don't get paid enough to be considered employees), $3 Dewey's, and most importantly, the players. Hope to see you all tomorrow night at the field or Dewey's as the championship teams will be lobbing softballs of awkward/embarrassing Snapchat photo opportunities and surely be notifying their employers they will not be coming in on Friday.

Go Sox and keep it classy Lighthouse.
