Week 4 Superhero Rankings

Plenty of fun and excitement in our 3rd official week of kickball (4th if you’re scoring at home and count rainouts). NDW/T2R/That shitty black team has officially hit rock bottom. It’s weird because I kind of feel bad for them but I shouldn’t because they’ve won enough and bitched and moaned more than enough. We’re only halfway through Fall and Bez is already on the waiver wire. Amazingly enough he has only been playing kickball for about a year and has gone through about 19 teams across the country. I’d suggest PW make MNM an offer. Talbot seems to be good at putting up with guys that complain and don’t shut up. From this point on, I will not be determining the order of the power rankings. It’s time to bring back the Kickball BCS rankings! Not only will you know you’re team is better (or worse) by what rank you are, but you’ll know HOW much better (or worse) you are.

How it works: I use your WAKA rank, Coaches Poll rank, runs allowed and who you allowed them to, and strength of schedule. I plug those numbers into my nifty excel formula and bam, you get a number (1,000 is the maximum). Not all runs allowed are created the same so if you allow runs to a lower ranked team (MDC), they hurt more than allowing to a top tier defense (MNM). Hopefully it represents more of how your team is playing as opposed to wins and losses.

Coaches Poll

I tried to get one person from each team, but I didn’t decide to do this until yesterday so I failed. So with 6 team reps polled, this is what we’ve got. First place votes in parentheses.

#1. Muff N Men (3)
#2. Hand Made Love (1)
#3. Prestige Worldwide (2)
#4. Rum Riot
#5. The Closers
#6. Time 2 Retire
#7. Ma Dixon Cider
#8. Fall-Tea Balls

Kickball BCS Power Rankings Week 4

#8. Fall-Tea Balls - 729
Not sure why these guys haven’t been very competitive this season. They didn’t lose many players and they were a decent team in Spring. Either way they did pick up win #1 last week and free agent Kathy was like 4-4 (that trade’s starting to even out), which inspired Papi to suggest hot sauce on his popcorn this week from Tim.

#7. Ma Dixon Cider - 783
Something about that first inning that seems to kill MDC. It’s almost like they have no interest in having a lead in a game. The offense started to come alive last week and JSparks recorded his league leading 3rd strikeout, but it all comes down to defense and not making dumb mistakes with 2 outs and runners on base for these guys.

#6. The Closers - 786
TC could be ranked higher on this list but they’ve given up the majority of their runs against weaker opponents. They’ve definitely got a star in the making at charger in Lamo and it seems they are weak against kick heavy teams right now. I’m surprised they didn’t get more respect in the coaches poll with how poorly T2R has played.

#5. Time 2 Retire - 805
I remember getting a text from Wade like 5 minutes before our first game saying he was quitting for NDW. I don’t think he’s stopped drinking since that Thursday night after the first game. It almost looks like these guys are playing at half speed and they’ve already given up more runs this season than in the past 3 combined. Corliss probably should’ve tried to get that BV reunion going this season. By the end of the season it wouldn’t be surprising if they have to forfeit due to all their girls quitting or being traded away.

#4. Prestige Worldwide - 887
The most confusing team in the coaches poll. They were ranked as high as #1 and as low as #6. Their defense and offense have both been decent but not great this season and they’ve played one of the easier schedules in the league so far. Tonight’s game looks like it could be a trap game for these guys.

#3. Rum Riot - 914
Looks like the RR defense that was always a staple in the final four is back which is great news for a potent top of the lineup with a not so potent back end. Double header this week with a rematch against MNM should give us a good idea where they stand in the league.

#2. Hand Made Love - 916
HML is chugging along well without Steve (are you guys saving him for playoffs?), with a decent defense and a solid top of the order. Last week they tied MNM and may have contributed to their inevitable implosion. Their schedule lines them up nicely for the 2 seed.

#1. Muff N Men - 969
KBCS doesn’t lie, these guys have played the best kickball this season. It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out for Muff n Puff. Bez had his expected meltdown last week and is already talking about ruining… I mean playing another co ed sport on Thursdays. These guys have also been battling injuries with Fittsy dislocating his shoulder last week.

This Weeks Games

Let’s not even talk about how awful I am at picking games this season. Do yourself a favor and beg me to pick against you so it’s a lock you win.

6PM
Ma Dixon Cider vs. Muff N Men
It’s all about that first inning for MDC and 6pm games are not working for us. We need more time to drink before we even think about playing kickball. MNM roll 7-4.

7PM
Fall-Tea Balls vs. Hand Made Love
The 12th man (The Hoff) won’t be enough to overcome HML this week. 5-1.

The Closers vs. Rum Riot
Good test for TC but RR is back in business and I like them winning 3-1.

8PM
Muff N Men vs. Rum Riot
The 2 best defenses going at it tonight. This is going to end up being one of those 1-0 games. Sorry Muffs but I’m picking you to win.

Time 2 Retire vs. Prestige Worldwide
The group of individuals formerly known as NDW will keep their demise in tact this week. PW wins 6-2.
