Lighthouse Week 1 Playoff Predictions

By now your team's Captain has lost approximately 12 full hours of sleep debating on line-ups and position locks. Your significant other is to the point of an end-all fight as you have not spoken about anything other than kickball since 12:00am Monday morning (especially if you both play on the same team). Your friend circle has collapsed inward on itself and now consists of the 15-something people that will don the same WAKA colored jersey as you on Thursday night.... and if all three of these things don't apply to you at this very moment, you clearly have not properly prepared yourself for..... kickball playoffs.

One make-up game this week, in which we have WOCFB destroying WFI and killing all their momentum going into their first playoff game, 8-0.

Now on to the important stuff.

SD vs PU:

What a match-up. These two teams battled all season long for the #4 and #5 seeds, and now meet for the third time, however, this time they're playing for keeps. In the first matchup, the PU's came out throwing haymakers, head-kicks and titty-twisters, dominated the Donkeys in an 8-1 trouncing. The second matchup was a much more strategic fight in which the SD's slowly and methodically beat up the astronauts in a 3-1 victory in what really wasn't a close game at all. Time will tell what type of game this one is, but one thing the GSPOT team does know is that this one will be entertaining. We predict lots of alcohol, high emotions, and ultimately tears mixed with more alcohol with the SD's moving on. SD 5-3.

KD vs WFI:

Well we don't think this story could have been written any better with both teams in their first season going head-to-head in their first playoff game. Kudos to WFI for making the playoffs for their first season without one win in the books.... unbelievable season for them. A spokesman from the team stated in their very first game that they were going to make history, and make history they did. WFI let up an average of nearly 8 runs per game and sported a run differential of -42, but then again, one could argue they did just enough to make it into the playoffs. The Dog Kickers on the other hand shocked most of the league. After a start to the season in which the team resembled the Little Giants pre-Icebox, they transformed into post-Icebox and stole some wins from some veteran teams. If KD can avoid a Spike-like collapse (still following the reference or is that too far?) we predict KD to run away with this one. KD 5-3.

SSP vs KD:

We generally would not go out on a limb and predict this far in advance, but given the fact KD is playing WFI, this matchup is a no-brainah. These two teams collided twice during the regular season, and KD was able to hand the Panthers one of the two blemishes on their illustrious season, ending in a tie. An unnamed source reported that the SSP's had all passed around a milk jug full of potato vodka that Brian Bigelow fermented in his bathtub prior to the game, however, the Panthers later denied the allegations. Regardless, KD played the Panthers well and delivered a message that they are not to be underestimated. If this message was well received, we anticipate the Panthers to come out full speed. In a closely contested battle, we have the Panthers ending the Cinderella Dog Kickers season short, 3-1.

On deck for next week, we have the winner of SD vs PU playing WOCFB. The winner of that game will play the winner of KD vs SSP.

For those exiting early, we at the GSPOT team would like to reiterate what a great season this has been and encourage you all to come for next Thursday's games regardless of the outcome. On a side note, we would also like to publicly state that this write-up is intended to be all in good fun and we love you all, regardless of your lack of athleticism and drinking ability. Have fun this week, and also be sure to attend the charity game at Payson on Saturday at 1pm. It's for a good cause and I know most of you could use the good karma.

You stay classy Lighthouse.
